Samsung introduced a new PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD for gamers and ordinary consumers – PM9C1a. It uses the company’s new 5nm process controller and seventh-generation V-NAND memory.

The manufacturer assures that the new product demonstrates 1.6 times higher speed of sequential reading and 1.8 times higher speed of sequential writing compared to its predecessor, PM9B1. In absolute terms, the claimed speeds are 6,000 MB/s and 5,600 MB/s, respectively. It is additionally stated that arbitrary read and write speeds can support up to 900K IOPS and 1000K IOPS.

The PM9C1a also offers 70% more efficiency per Watt than its predecessor, and when the laptop goes into sleep mode, the new product consumes 10% less power.

The Samsung PM9C1a storage devices will be available with a capacity of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB in the form factor M.2 (22×30 mm, 22×42 mm, 22×80 mm).
