The Mercedes S-class sedan has always been the standard against which competitors were compared: better, worse, different – but everything was compared to the current S-class. And from now on, the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance car sets a new level in the balance of sport and luxury. And also a new level of technology. After all, the new Mercedes-AMG S 63 is a PHEV hybrid!

Visual changes are expected: “sports” front bumper, original 20- or 21-inch wheels, four exhaust pipes at the back, carbon trim. And the appearance of the second hatch, which hides the port for charging the battery (13.1 kWh), which is enough for 33 km of fully autonomous electric range. The battery can deliver a constant power of 70 kW or a peak power of twice that – up to 140 kW – but only for 10 seconds.

This is required to power the electric motor: 140 kW or 190 hp. power and 320 Nm of torque. Working together with the monstrous gasoline V8 4.0 (612 hp and 900 Nm), the Mercedes-AMG S 63 hybrid system produces a total of 802 “horses” and 1430 Nm of torque! They go first to the 9-speed automatic AMG, and then to all four wheels.

Thanks to this, in the end, the Mercedes-AMG S 63 supersedan can accelerate to the first hundred in 3.3 seconds and reach a maximum of 290 km/h. At the same time, requiring only 4.4 liters of fuel per 100 km – this is with a gasoline biturbo V8 under the hood! Oh, this sounds amazing…

The rest of the technologies are also on par. The body is strengthened, 6-piston brakes are installed in the front (carbon-ceramic discs are an option), and the car will receive an air suspension and adjustable shock absorbers. A fully steerable chassis is also used: the rear wheels can turn at an angle of up to 2.5 degrees. The driver can choose from seven driving modes and many electronic assistants.

By the way, regarding the driver and passengers. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 sedan does not forget its representative character: high-quality materials are used in the interior, an AMG steering wheel is installed in front, and the rear seats are separated and equipped with a separate control panel – all at the level of the maximum versions of the Mercedes S-class.

After all, this is how it should be: the Mercedes-AMG S 63 sedan occupies the position of one of the leaders within the Mercedes S-class model range. It will be emphasized by the cost: a price tag of around 200,000 euros is expected. Start of sales – in 2023.
