The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, signed Resolution No. 1299, which comes into force on December 14 and allows the use of only an electronic driver’s license in Diia app without a plastic counterpart. Thus, when obtaining a driver’s license, it will be possible to completely abandon “plastic”.

“Previously, Ukraine became the fourth country in Europe to legalize digital driver’s licenses, and now we are introducing the digital first format. That is, in any situation, you can use only an electronic driver’s license in Diia, just keep the document in your smartphone and forget about plastic,” reports the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

In Diia, the driver’s license is available in Ukrainian and English versions. In addition, the license and technical passport have international coding used in the EU, USA and Canada, which may allow the use of an electronic driver’s license abroad in the future.
