Google named the most popular searches in Ukraine in 2022

Traditionally, at the end of the year, Google presented the final ranking of Ukrainian users’ search queries. The search engine analyzed what Ukrainians most often searched for and which topics saw the greatest increase in interest during the year.

The search query of the year, which showed the highest growth for 2022 in Google Ukraine, was “Map of air alarms”. “News of Ukraine” is the second most popular, and “eDopomoga” (service helping those who suffered from Russian aggression) is in third place. In addition, the top ten included requests such as “Map of Ukraine”, “Bayraktar” and the new season of the TV show Bachelor.

Oleksii Arestovych received the largest increase in the interest of Ukrainians among search queries in the “Person” category over the year. Users were also interested in the urban legend of the Ghost of Kyiv, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the former Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson and the head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Vitalii Kim.

Regarding the people who left forever in 2022, the most requests were about Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Ruslana Pysanka, Yuriy Shatunov and Queen Elizabeth II.

Despite everything, this year Ukrainians watched movies and series. So, in the “Movies” category in 2022, Ukrainians were most interested in another movie from the Marvel universe Spider-Man: No Way Home. Also in the top ten are the comedy in the style of political satire Don’t Look Up, the detective Death on the Nile and the romantic film Purple Hearts.

Among the television series, the leader was House of the Dragon – a prequel to the series Game of Thrones. In addition, this year, Ukrainians were interested in the teenage drama Euphoria, the Turkish series Hear Me, new seasons of the series Silver Spoon, Peaky Blinders and Stranger Things, as well as last year’s leader – Squid Game.

In the category “Ukrainian Geography in Search” this year, Hostomel, Bucha and Mariupol showed the greatest growth, Ukrainians also searched for Chornobaivka, Kherson and Zmiinyi Island.

The “purchase of the year” in Ukraine became a generator, in addition, Ukrainians were interested in where to buy salt, bulletproof vest, “Russian ship” stamp, as well as candles, powerbank and Starlink.

In 2022, Ukrainian users were looking for an answer to the question of what Swift, lend lease and state of emergency are. In addition, Ukrainians tried to find out what palianytsia, bayraktar and blackout are.
