It is not entirely clear why a messenger that primarily specializes in the security of communication needs such functionality at all, but still – the developer announces that Signal finally has its stories. According to them, this was one of the most common requests for new features from users.

As with other messengers and social networks, stories in Signal allow you to share texts, images and videos with friends, which will automatically disappear 24 hours after they are published. The developer notes that like everything else in Signal, the stories also have end-to-end encryption.

The developer offers a choice of who will be able to see the stories – all contacts from the phone book with Signal installed, users whose correspondence requests you accepted, or only those with whom you communicated one-on-one in the messenger.

Stories are already available in mobile applications on Android and iOS, and in the desktop application they will appear “soon”.
