Samsung officially introduced new LPDDR5X DRAM memory and said that it has already been verified to work at 8.5 Gbps on the Snapdragon mobile platform. This is the highest speed for DRAM to date (the previous record of 7.5 Gbps was set in March of this year).

LPDDR5X technology itself is not new, the first such memory was introduced back at the end of last year, but its new version will have even higher speed with minimal internal redesign.

According to Samsung, due to its low power consumption and high performance, LPDDR5X DRAM can be used not only in smartphones, but also, for example, in PCs, servers, or cars. According to Daniel Lee, executive president of Samsung’s memory product planning group, combining efforts with Qualcomm has brought the new memory to market by more than a year.
