Xiaomi presented the Xiaomi 12T Pro and 12T smartphones, which are more affordable than Xioami 12S series models for mobile photography enthusiasts. Both devices have high-resolution cameras, but are built on different platforms.

Xiaomi 12T Pro

The Xiaomi 12T Pro is the company’s first smartphone with a 200-megapixel camera. It uses a Samsung ISOCELL HP1 matrix with a 1/1.22″ sensor and 0.64 µm pixels (at 200 MP), which can be enlarged to 1.28 µm (4-in-1) at 50 MP or 2, 56 µm (16-in-1) at 12.5 MP, depending on lighting conditions and user settings.

If the main camera of the 12T Pro really has advanced features, the same cannot be said about the other two modules. An additional 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a viewing angle of 120° received a 1/4″ sensor (1/1.12 μm pixels), electronic stabilization and an aperture of f/2.2. Another module, it seems, was added simply for the number, because it’s just a 2-megapixel macro camera.

The front camera in the Xiaomi 12T Pro is a 20-megapixel module with a 1/3.47″ (0.8 μm) matrix, f/2.24 aperture, 78° viewing angle, and electronic stabilization.

The smartphone uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels (20:9, 446 ppi). It can operate at 120 Hz or automatically switch between 30, 60, 90 and 120 Hz modes. It’s a 12-bit panel with support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which promises enhanced color reproduction thanks to factory calibration. It has a typical brightness of 500 nits (900 nits peak) and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

In the lower part of the display, traditionally for Xiaomi, an optical fingerprint scanner is installed to unlock the device.

For its flagship, Xiaomi chose the top platform from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which works in a pair with 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage in the basic version. In addition, there are configurations of 8/256 GB and 12/256 GB. The smartphone also uses the Android 12 operating system with the MIUI 13 interface.

The 12T Pro is powered by a fairly large 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support, which is still part of the package. Thanks to it, the smartphone can be charged from 0 to 100% in just 19 minutes.

As you would expect from a flagship, the Xiaomi 12T Pro has stereo speakers (tuned by Harman Kardon, with Dolby Atmos support), Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC, and supports two SIM cards with 5G.

Xiaomi 12T Pro will go on sale in some European countries from October 13, the version with 8/128 GB of memory will cost 750 euros.

Against the background of the Pro model, the smartphone offers the same screen and battery, but the Dimensity 8100-Max platform and a 108-megapixel camera.

Xiaomi 12T received the same display – a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with an aspect ratio of 20:9, a resolution of 1220p+ and an adaptive refresh rate from 30 to 120 Hz. As with the Pro, typical screen brightness reaches 500 nits and peak 900 nits. The display is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 protective glass.

For multimedia playback, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos are available, although without Harman Kardon tuning. There is support for Wi-Fi 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and two SIM cards.

The smartphone is built on the Dimensity 8100-Max processor, which is complemented by 8/128 GB or 8/256 GB of memory (LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1). Xiaomi 12T also runs Android 12 with MIUI 13 skin.

Despite the different chipsets, the younger version also comes with a 120W charger that can charge the battery to 100% in just 19 minutes.

Xiaomi 12T will enter the market together with the Pro on October 13 and will cost less – 600 euros for the 8/128 GB version.
