Honorable long-term Star Citizen has already raised more than $500 million from 4,096,856 users, but when the game itself will be released is still unknown. Maybe in 2027, but it’s not certain.
Star Citizen has been in development since 2010. At the beginning, the game used the CryEngine 3 engine, now its descendant Amazon Lumberyard (the same engine as in the Ukrainian shooter Shatterline). The official announcement of the game took place together with the launch of the Kickstarter campaign 18 October 2012, i.e. already 10 years ago. Then Chris Roberts’ company raised $2,134,374 and promised to release the game in November 2014. 8 years have passed…
