Samsung showed off the massive Samsung Odyssey Ark curved monitor back in January at CES 2022. It’s been a little over half a year, and it’s now available for pre-order at manufacturer sites.

The 4K Quantum Mini-LED panel with a diagonal of 55” and an aspect ratio of 16:9 has a radius of curvature of 1000R (1 meter), a refresh rate of 165 Hz, support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro adaptive frequency technology, and a response time of 1 ms. Peak brightness in HDR mode can reach 1000 cd/m² (up to 600 cd/m² in normal mode), color coverage is 95% DCI-P3. The panel has local dimming for 1056 individual zones.

Interestingly, Samsung Odyssey Ark supports “portrait mode” (here, however, it is called Cockpit Mode) — the screen can be rotated vertically, and then its upper part will “overhang” the user.

If the user does not need the entire screen area for some tasks, the Flex Move Screen function will help to quickly change its diagonal (from 55 to 27 inches) and aspect ratio (16:9, 21:9, 32:9).

The 2.2.2 audio system is responsible for the sound — four speakers at the corners of the screen and two low-frequency speakers (from 45 Hz) in the center with a total power of 60 W, there is support for Dolby Atmos technology. All cables are connected to a separate module – One Connect Box. There are four HDMI 2.1, two USB 2.0, Ethernet, optical digital input and more.
