The “Google tax” brought about $76 million to the Ukrainian budget. It was stated in an official Telegram channel by Danylo Hetmantsev – People’s Deputy, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy.

The deadline for submitting tax returns ended on August 9. “Google tax” is VAT, which, starting this year, large multinational corporations must pay for electronic services provided in Ukraine.

This year, 53 large companies paid the “Google tax” to the Ukrainian budget. Most of them were declared by such giants as:

  • Google
  • Apple
  • Meta
  • Instagram
  • Onlyfans

“Thanks to the implementation of modern European norms on taxation of electronic services, the army received significant funding for the war. Of the payers and consumers of services, no one went bankrupt, despite the predictions of marginal “experts” from social networks,” Danylo Hetmantsev emphasizes.

It is worth noting that some companies, such as Meta, raised their prices due to the new tax, so in fact at least partially this $76 million was paid by users from Ukraine.
