Dell and Canonical continue their strong partnership and have announced that the XPS 13 Plus laptop has become the first laptop certified for Ubuntu 22.04 Long Term Support (LTS).
Ubuntu’s LTS (Long Term Support) operating system means that standard support and updates will continue until 2027, with general end-of-life and security updates ending in 2032. Canonical-certified devices undergo laboratory tests to verify the compatibility of each component, meaning that the computer receives special drivers that will ensure that all its functions work properly.
The operating system Ubuntu 22.04 LTS was officially released on April 21st and features a long list of updates, including better power management, new touchpad gestures, and improved support for Bluetooth audio devices.
According to Dell, existing users of the XPS 13 Plus will be able to self-install Ubuntu 22.04.1 as early as August 4, and new buyers will be able to place an order for the laptop already with Ubuntu around the same time.
