On September 2, the Amazon Prime Video service will begin showing the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the production of which can cost the streaming a record $465 million. Ahead of the release, the service has released a new 2.5-minute teaser that gives a fuller idea of the scale of the story based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic novels, which Amazon is going to show.
Set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, The Rings of Power will reportedly trace the creation of the titular rings and the rise of Sauron, events alluded to in Peter Jackson’s trilogy. Among the characters (although not actors) from the films, the audience will see Galadriel (Morfydd Clarke), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), and Isildur (Maxim Baldry).
