Almost 20 years ago, in 2003, the game XIII was released – a shooter based on Belgian comics, which used cel-shading graphics, which were quite popular at the time. The game received good reviews, and in 2020 a new developer released a remake.

However, the remake was so bad that it now has only 13% positive reviews on Steam, and the developer and publisher even apologized a few days after release. It would seem that you can put an end to this and replay the original if you wish, especially since it’s also on Steam – with very favorable reviews and also much cheaper than the remake.

However, the story does not end there. PlayMagic, the developer of XIII (2020), yesterday announced that the publisher handed over the support of the remake to the French studio Tower Five, which has been working on a major update for more than a year, which should fundamentally change the game. We are promised updated visual art and sound, improved AI, redesigned interface, and online multiplayer (from 2 to 13 players).

The release of the update is scheduled for September 13, it will be free for all owners of the game.
