Microsoft launched the beta-testing of tab system in File Explorer as part of Windows Insider program, which is a new function presented in the beta channel in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.160 (KB5014770), which is now available for all users of the program.

In addition to the tab system, the updated File Explorer will also get an improved layout of the left navigation bar, including easier access to fixed and frequently used directories and personal profile in OneDrive.

We note that the appearance of a feature in the Windows Insider beta channel usually means that it should be released relatively quickly, most likely in the next few months. However, so far it seems that the tabs will not have time to get to the big update of Windows 11 22H2.
