SsangYong is going through difficult times: it has been bought out by Indian entrepreneurs, it has been cut off from funding, it has gone bankrupt, it has a new rescue plan – and all this has been happening for the last few years. However, the company is not standing still, but trying to control itself and save itself. For example, by releasing new models (rather than simplifying the already existing ones to primitivism).

The latest creation of Koreans is the SsangYong Torres SUV, made in a “macho” chopped design. Lots of straight lines, LED headlights, protective covers on the wheel arches, a powerful rear roof rack, even a separate side box. It looks good!

But what’s inside? The new SsangYong Torres is based on the existing Korando model: in fact, the latter took the suspension and a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine that offers 170 hp. and 280 Nm. The main type of drive is front, but for extra money will be available and all-wheel drive version. Plus the traditional 6-speed automatic gearbox. In addition, it is planned to release an electric version.

Interestingly, the new car SsangYong Torres is built on the stretched platform of its “relative”, but it does not reach the size of the flagship model Rexton. However, the interior still turned out quite good and solid: two large displays on the center console, digital instrument panel, decorative backlight, steering wheel from the “older brother”.

The new SUV is already available for order from dealers in South Korea, and later should be offered to other countries. The same question: would you like to see it in Ukraine?
