Ming-Chi Kuo: PlayStation VR2 will be mass produced in the second half of this year

Mass production of the PlayStation VR2 will begin in the second half of 2022 according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities. He is known for his forecasts for new products and Apple’s actions for the year ahead, which allow him to make sources from supply chains. However, it is not limited to Apple. For example, in April of this year, Kuo described the resolution and other details for the upcoming Meta headset – Project Cambria.

On May 30 analyst posted a tweet, which claims that the mass assembly and delivery of components for the PlayStation VR2 will begin in the second half of 2022. Suppliers will have shipped about 1.5 million units by the end of the year. Kuo predicts that Sony will launch the new product in the first quarter of 2023, if enough games are ready for PSVR 2.

At a recent investor briefing, Sony said the new headset will be launched with “20+ official and third-party titles”. A brief overview of at least some of these games will be shown at the State Of Play presentation this week. We remind that the company has officially announced a new virtual reality headset during CES 2022.

Kuo is not the first analyst to suggest that PSVR 2 will not launch this year. Last month, Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, also announced on Twitter that Sony and Apple VR products would be delayed until 2023. By the end of this year, the novelties will be produced in too small a volume, so the companies will have to postpone a serious launch.
