The upcoming Disney movie Pinocchio promises to recreate the cult fairy tale as best it can. The first teaser trailer for the film gives a little sense of what director Robert Zemeckis has prepared for the audience.

In the trailer you can see very briefly how the father, dollmaker Geppetto carves the main character Pinocchio out of wood. The father will be played by Tom Hanks, and the live toy will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. The short scene shows the love and attention that Geppetto puts into his son, so the fairy (Cynthia Erivo) fulfills his wishes and helps the toy come to life.

In the teaser viewers recognize Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Sofia the seagull (Lorraine Bracco), and John the fox (Keegan-Michael Key). Despite being a feature film, its characters have been made very similar to those in the classic Disney cartoon. This aesthetic choice will delight long-time fans of the story.

As a reminder, the film will be released on September 8 this year on the Disney + streaming service.
