Valve also announced that the tournament will take place in October 2022. The exact date will be announced by the organizers later. The tournament is known for its generous rewards. Last year’s winners received $40 million in prize money. The amount of the prize is collected through in-game purchases made by members of the Dota 2 community. It only grows over the years.
We remind that the 2020 tournament in Sweden was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was supposed to take place in Stockholm last year, but due to problems with the Swedish government, The International in 2021 was moved to Romania. There it was held without live spectators due to an outbreak of coronavirus. It is unknown at this time whether they will take any anti-epidemic measures at this year’s tournament.
