AMD announces Ryzen PRO 6000 processors for business laptops

Even during CES 2022 AMD has introduced a new line of mobile processors Ryzen 6000 series (Rembrandt). And now the company has announced new Ryzen PRO 6000 series processors – they are designed for use in “top” business laptops.

In total, the line includes eight processors, from the younger six-core Ryzen 5 Pro 6650U to the octa-core Ryzen 9 Pro 69050H. They are based on the new 6nm Zen 3+ architecture (promised performance gains of up to 30%) and use RDNA II graphics (more than double the Vega). AMD also introduced three younger models in the Ryzen Pro 5000 line for thin and light laptops, which will use the previous 7nm Zen 3 architecture.

Comparing the Ryzen 7 Pro 6000 U series with the 12th generation Intel Core i7 processors, AMD claims the advantage of its product in Cinebench multithreaded tests and complex 3DMark, PCMark 10, and Passmark (while in single-threaded tests the advantage belongs to Intel). AMD also promises a significant improvement in battery life – according to the company, the HP Elitebook 865 G9 (16-inch model with Ryzen 7 PRO 6850U and 76 W * g) lasted more than 26 hours in the MobileMark 2018 benchmark, while the HP model EliteBook x360 G8 (Intel Core i7-1165G7, 78 W*h battery) lasted 4 hours less.

Laptops on the new Ryzen PRO 6000 processors should go on sale at the end of the second quarter of this year. It is currently known of models in the HP Elitebook and Lenovo ThinkPad lines.
