Package contents
The Motorola Watch Fit comes in a small white box with a picture of the fitness bracelet itself and all the basic information.
The delivery package is nothing special. The Motorola Watch Fit box contains a cable for charging the fitness bracelet with a Type-C connector, a mount for third-party straps, and documentation.
Design and materials
Motorola Watch Fit is available in a single size of 44 mm. The fitness bracelet is relatively thin and compact, so it will fit any hand. The case is rectangular in shape with rounded corners. The frame has a rounded streamlined shape and is made of dark gray aluminum with a matte finish. The fitness bracelet looks nice and stylish. But it is surprising that other color options are not provided, especially considering the color palette of Motorola smartphones.
The fitness bracelet is equipped with a fairly large 1.9-inch touchscreen flat OLED display. It is protected by third-generation Gorilla Glass. The bezels around the perimeter of the display are quite wide. But they are practically invisible when using a watch face with a black background.
The main element of interaction with the Motorola Watch Fit is the touch screen. There is only one physical control element: a large physical button on the right edge of the case. It is responsible for returning to the home screen and switching to the list of applications. There is also the possibility of assigning an additional function to a double press. In my case, it was switching to music playback control.
The back of the Motorola Watch Fit is made of matte black plastic. In the middle is an optical heart rate and blood oxygen saturation sensor. A little next to it are two charging contacts, and on the sides are quick strap release buttons.
The strap mounts are standard, 22 mm, so replacing them won't be difficult. The range of straps with standard mounts is more than sufficient, so there's plenty to choose from. For example, silicone options that will be optimal for those who actively swim.
The Motorola Watch Fit comes with a green nylon strap with a yellow stripe, which the company calls PANTONE Trekking Green. It's pleasant to the touch and elastic enough not to put pressure on your hand. The Velcro closure makes it easy to adjust the size. The only potential downside to the strap is that it's hard to predict how well it will hold up under regular water use.
The weight of the Motorola Watch Fit is only 25 g, which together with the lightweight nylon strap makes the fitness bracelet almost weightless. There is protection according to the IP68 standard, the fitness tracker withstands water pressure of 5 ATM. You can safely take a shower and swim in the pool or fresh water.
Screen, hardware platform
Motorola Watch Fit is equipped with a rectangular OLED screen with a diagonal of 1.9 inches and a resolution of 422x348, the pixel density is approximately 296 PPI. This is enough for a clear, pleasant picture. The declared peak brightness is 1000 cd/m². The screen is really bright enough, the information is perfectly readable in bright sunlight. There is an ambient light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment. There is support for Always on Display, although in the basic version. The clock is displayed and a red dot at the bottom, signaling the presence of unread notifications.
It is worth recalling that the Motorola Watch Fit is not a smartwatch, but a fitness bracelet with rather limited functionality and without the ability to install third-party applications. The bracelet runs on its own OS and the manufacturer does not indicate the technical characteristics of the processor and the amount of memory. But the operating system itself works quickly and smoothly. The set of sensors includes an accelerometer, a gyroscope sensor, an optical heart rate sensor, a PPG (photoplethysmographic sensor) for determining blood oxygen saturation and a light sensor, that is, the basic necessary set of a modern fitness tracker. Of the wireless interfaces, there is Bluetooth for connecting to a smartphone, as well as GPS. So the fitness bracelet can record a route without a smartphone.
It is stated that Motorola Watch Fit works only with smartphones running Android OS no older than version 12, there are no functional restrictions for smartphones from third-party manufacturers. iOS is not supported and it is unlikely that support will appear with updates. To work with the fitness bracelet, you must download the Moto Watch application.
Interface and features
The Motorola Watch Fit interface is quite simple and clear. The general logic of the interface in the vast majority of modern fitness bracelets and smartwatches is similar and in many ways resembles smartphones. The home screen is the selected watch face. There are quite a few of them available, in different styles and with different functionality. There is also the possibility of creating your own using Moto AI.
A swipe from left to right opens a list of all available applications. Their set is quite standard: start a workout, workout records, heart rate, sleep, stress, blood oxygen, activity throughout the day (the same activity rings), breathing exercises, weather forecast, timer, alarm clock, stopwatch, control music playback on a smartphone, flashlight, smartphone search function and settings.
A gesture from top to bottom opens the usual curtain with quick settings. And from bottom to top - a list of notifications. They are grouped by applications. But you can't view the content of the messages. How to answer them. Exactly like answering a call using the Motorola Watch Fit: there is no speaker and microphone. You can only reject the call. Perhaps with updates there will be the ability to answer messages or calls with templates.
By swiping left, you can access widgets. In fact, they duplicate applications, but provide easier and faster access to the necessary functions.
In terms of fitness functions, the Motorola Watch Fit has everything you need. The bracelet can count the number of steps, calories burned, measure heart rate, blood oxygen saturation and sleep. Sleep phases, quality, duration are monitored. There are more than 100 training programs, so everyone will find exactly what they need. Starting from standard running, walking on the street or in the gym and ending with swimming. All data is automatically transferred to the smartphone in the Moto Watch application. There is automatic recognition of some exercises, such as walking or running: the fitness bracelet offers to choose the desired option (outdoors or indoors). In the first case, the Motorola Watch Fit begins to determine geolocation using GPS to record the route.
In general, the accuracy of step and pulse measurements is quite high. The error in determining the pulse usually does not exceed a couple of percent. It is difficult to say about the accuracy of determining blood oxygen saturation, because you need to have an appropriate specialized device to check it. But it is important not to neglect the tips on the screen and move the Motorola Watch Fit a little higher than the wrist, because the results may not be very realistic. Sleep time is determined quite accurately, but for obvious reasons it is difficult to say about sleep phases. The fitness bracelet can measure the pulse constantly, every 6 minutes, or manually. Unfortunately, blood oxygen saturation is measured only manually. Automatic determination is available only during sleep.
The Motorola Watch Fit is set up using the aforementioned Moto Watch app. The main screen displays the model and image of the fitness bracelet, the charge level, connection status, and buttons for accessing various settings sections.
The first is responsible for choosing watch faces. The second is for choosing and setting the order of widgets (so-called panels). The next item allows you to customize the quick settings panel. Although all available ones fit on one screen, there is no particular point in removing anything. The next section allows you to adjust the order in the application list. The last one is the main settings of the fitness bracelet: some fitness settings, display, notifications, vibration level, weather, wrist selection and physical button position, data backup, software update, etc.
There are three sections at the bottom of the main screen. We looked at the watch settings section. The health section collects all the indicators about exercise, steps, stress, sleep, oxygen level in the body in the form of cards. By clicking on the desired card, you can view more detailed data, including routes, sleep phases, etc.
The last section, "My Page," allows you to add your own data (day, year of birth, weight, height, and gender) and set goals for training, activity, and sleep.
Battery life
Motorola doesn't specify battery capacity, but it promises that the Motorola Watch Fit can last up to 16 days without recharging. Of course, this figure applies to moderate use, without Always on Display, constant heart rate monitoring, etc.
The fitness bracelet was used with automatic brightness, Always on Display, and all possible continuous measurements of the body's condition turned on. In this mode, the Motorola Watch Fit lasts about a week, which is a very good indicator. The fitness bracelet charges quite quickly. It takes about an hour to fully charge.
