Package contents
The Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra is packed in a fairly thin and compact black box with the model name, Motorola logo, and information that there is a protective case inside. Traditionally for top-end models, the box smells of perfume inside.
Unfortunately, the delivery set has been somewhat simplified compared to last year's model. In addition to the smartphone, the box contains a protective bumper, a Type-C cable, a tray removal tool, and documentation. There is no power supply.
The protective bumper consists of two parts and has an additional ring. It is made of high-quality and pleasant to the touch dark artificial leather, close to the color of the smartphone itself. The bumper has additional adhesive strips inside for more reliable fixation.
Design and ergonomics
The design of the smartphone has practically not changed from last year's model. The linear dimensions have not changed at all, the thickness has increased slightly, which is logical, given the increased battery. The external display has a similar diagonal of 4 inches and occupies almost the entire cover panel, the frames are minimal. When the screen is inactive, or the Always on Display function is activated, the screen frames are not visible at all. The dual camera is "cut" into it. The panel is protected by Gorilla Glass Ceramic.
The back panel is made of unusual materials, which differ depending on the color variant. The review shows the PANTONE Scarab (blue-green) variant with Alcantara on the back. The material is very nice, but the question of durability remains. It is difficult to say how long the back panel will have a neat appearance.
Despite the preserved dimensions of 171.5x74 mm when unfolded, the company managed to slightly reduce the frames and increase the diagonal of the internal screen from 6.9 to 7 inches. The crease on the display is still present, but it is minimal, almost invisible and not felt with a finger. A protective film is glued to the screen from the factory, which cannot be removed. This is written both on the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra packaging and at the first launch.
At the top of the main display is an internal front-facing camera, although the design of the smartphone allows for convenient use of the main cameras for selfies or video calls. Above the screen is a series of holes for the speaker.
The frame of the smartphone is made of 6000 series aluminum, the hinge is made of stainless steel. In this case, the metal parts have a pleasant matte finish. The controls have changed slightly from last year's model: another button has been added to the left edge, which launches the Moto AI assistant. Unfortunately, you can't configure it to do anything else.
On the other hand, everything is familiar: a power button with a built-in fingerprint scanner, as well as volume control buttons. The buttons are located a little higher than in smartphones of the usual form factor. But this does not cause significant inconvenience. Additional actions can be configured for the power button. Including calling the quick settings panel by swiping down on the button vertically.
The top of the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has only a pair of microphones. The bottom houses the main speaker, another microphone, a Type-C connector, and a SIM card tray. The tray can only accommodate one SIM card, but there is support for eSIM.
Despite the fact that the form factor is no longer new, the smartphone still looks futuristic and stylish. In addition to using it in a half-bent position for selfies and video calls without a tripod or recording video in a horizontal position, there is the possibility of using the smartphone as a desk clock thanks to the Always on Display.
Technically, making a protected clamshell is more difficult than a regular smartphone. And usually such models are only protected against water. But the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has received an IP48 protection class, so not only is it not afraid of immersion in water, but it is also protected against solid particles larger than 1 mm.
Displays
The internal display of the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has a diagonal of 7 inches and a resolution of 2992 x 1224 pixels. The pixel density is 464 ppi. The maximum refresh rate is 165 Hz, but the sensor polling rate in standard mode is for some reason 130 Hz. And 300 Hz only in game mode. The declared color coverage is 100% of the DCI-P3 space. Peak brightness is 4500 cd/m², there is support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
In the settings, you can choose between a dark and light theme, select the refresh rate, there are color display modes, color temperature settings, interface element scale, night mode, contrast, flicker prevention, and Always on Display.
Visually, the screen displays a wonderful rich picture with maximum viewing angles. The brightness margin is sufficient even for bright sunlight. In the "Bright" mode, the maximum brightness of the internal screen was 493.21 cd/m². The color gamut is much wider than sRGB, while the color reproduction is quite accurate.
The external screen has a diagonal of 4 inches and a resolution of 1272 x 1080 pixels, a pixel density of 417 ppi. The maximum refresh rate is 165 Hz, the sensor polling rate in standard mode is 120 Hz and 165 Hz in gaming mode. The declared color coverage is also 100% of the DCI-P3 space. Peak brightness is 300 cd/m², there is support for HDR10+.
The external screen is also of excellent quality. What is pleasantly pleasing is the presence of a full-fledged Always on Display function, which is absent in the current models of the Edge line. In the "Bright" mode, the maximum brightness of the internal screen was 505.74 cd/m². The color gamut is wider than sRGB, while the color reproduction is relatively accurate. The deviation towards cool shades is minimal.
Security
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has almost the usual biometric identification tools. You can use facial recognition to unlock, but with the difference that you can use both the internal front camera and the main dual camera when the smartphone is closed. The main cameras cope with this a little better. But still, in poor lighting, the recognition speed drops and you may have to use the flash.
The fingerprint scanner is located in the power button. It is a classic capacitive version that works great: fast and without errors. It provides a higher level of security than facial recognition.
Productivity and software
This year, the flagship Motorola Razr 60 Ultra clamshell received a full-fledged flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and not a simplified Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, like last year. Snapdragon 8 Elite is manufactured using a 3-nanometer process, has two Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores with a frequency of up to 4.32 GHz and six Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores at 3.53 GHz. Adreno 830 graphics accelerator with a frequency of 1.1 GHz. 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM with the ability to expand thanks to the storage. Its capacity is 512 GB UFS 4.0.
Clamshells almost always have problems with overheating due to a very dense internal layout, which does not allow for a good cooling system. Unfortunately, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is no exception. It cannot pass some synthetic tests, such as AnTuTu. In graphics tests, I also create an unrealistic load, so the situation is the same.
However, modern games on the smartphone work well. Call of Duty Mobile and Diablo Immortal run at a stable 60 FPS at the highest possible settings. But the smartphone case heats up noticeably after 10 minutes of playing. This proves once again that you shouldn't expect good gaming capabilities from an image-oriented folding model.
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has received a set of all modern wireless interfaces: tri-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e/7, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC. There is eSIM support. Global positioning systems GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BDS, QZSS are supported.
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra runs on Android 15 with the proprietary Moto Hello UI interface. The company promises 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches. The interface is very close to pure Android, but with certain bonuses from Motorola. First of all, this concerns the capabilities of quick gestures, as well as the presence of its own AI assistant Moto AI, for which a separate button has been allocated.
Its own AI assistant called Moto AI has quite familiar functionality: searching for the necessary information both on the smartphone and on the web, generating images, texts, notes, etc.
There are also a number of proprietary applications. Moto with all the basic smartphone settings. Moto Secure for blocking certain applications, creating a secure folder. Hub with games, notes, Moto Unplugged (temporarily turning off notifications for selected applications) and Smart Connect (connecting to external displays, PCs, laptops, headphones and smart devices).
Separately, it is worth mentioning the external screen: it works quite adequately with the vast majority of applications and supports automatic switching when opening or closing the smartphone. Except that it is not friendly with third-party keyboards. By long-pressing the bottom of the screen, you can switch to full-screen mode, or cut off the strip with cameras from the bottom. The organization of space on the external screen is quite logical: there is quick access to applications and various panels, which are actually widgets.
Sounding
Motorola Razr 60 Ultra reproduces stereo sound according to the classic hybrid scheme: main and conversational speakers. The sound quality and volume were pleasantly pleased, although I would like a little more bass. The balance of the channels is good, the difference is almost imperceptible.
The smartphone supports Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound, has ready-made settings for games, music or movies, as well as an equalizer.
Cameras
The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has a dual rear camera, like its predecessor. But the configuration has changed slightly. Instead of a telephoto camera, this year the smartphone has an ultra-wide-angle module that has autofocus and can be used for macro. So, we have:
- 50MP 1/1.56-inch, 1.0µm, 22mm ISOCELL GNJ main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, multi-directional phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization. 8K 30 FPS video resolution.
- 50MP Sony IMX 816 ultra-wide-angle 1/2.93-inch, 0.6μm, 12mm with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus, and 120° field of view; also used for macro. 4K 60 FPS video resolution.
- Front camera: 50 MP, f/2.5;
Thanks to the foldable design of the smartphone, you can take selfies or just take pictures in a semi-folded state by simply placing the smartphone on something. It is also convenient to shoot videos in a semi-folded state, like a camcorder.
Both cameras take great photos in most conditions, including night mode. With high detail and close to natural colors. At night, traces of the processing algorithms are sometimes visible and the colors become a little less natural. Main camera:
2x zoom (crop from main camera):

The main camera shoots at 8K 30 FPS, the ultra-wide-angle camera shoots at 4K 60 FPS. Video examples:
Battery life
One of the major improvements over last year's model is the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra's battery. It has a capacity of 4,700 mAh, which the company calls the largest in this form factor. Charging speeds have also increased, with support for up to 68 W. There's also support for 30 W wireless charging, but it uses its own standard, so you won't get that much power from conventional inductive chargers.
The smartphone turned out to be really durable, for a clamshell. After all, usually such models cannot boast of a long battery life. With everyday use, you can count on a day of work. These are calls, a browser, mail, instant messengers, social networks, a little music via Bluetooth and a little camera, but without games. Although usually such smartphones are not bought for games.
