Motorola Edge 60 Pro: a successful mid-range smartphone
We continue to get acquainted with the current line of Motorola smartphones. Today, the editorial office of Mezha has the new Motorola Edge 60 Pro. Compared to last year's Morotola Edge 50 Pro, many things have been improved, but there are also some strange changes. The smartphone has received a more powerful processor, faster memory, a slightly improved ultra-wide-angle camera, a brighter screen, a significantly larger battery and a higher level of case protection. But now for some reason, instead of aluminum, the frame has become plastic, the screen refresh rate has decreased, as has the charging speed. Now we will talk about the Motorola Edge 60 Pro in more detail.

Package contents
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro is packed in a white cardboard box with minimal printing and the traditional smell of perfume inside. You shouldn't expect power banks to be included with flagships and mid-range smartphones anymore.
In the box, in addition to the smartphone, there is a Type-C cable, a clip for removing the tray, documentation, and a protective bumper made of matte plastic in the same color as the smartphone.
Given the design of the smartphone with a screen curved on the sides, the bumper does not perfectly protect the Motorola Edge 60 Pro from drops.
Design and ergonomics
Externally, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro is not too different from its predecessor. The so-called four-sided curved design is used. That is, both the screen and the back cover are rounded, thanks to which the smartphone is thin on the edges and lies comfortably in the hand. The frames around the screen are minimal. Some people like the solution with curved sides of the screen, some don't, it cannot be called good or bad. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Motorola continues to collaborate with Pantone and the smartphone is available in three interesting colors. The bright blue version has a back cover made of something resembling nylon. The purple one, as seen in the review, is made of eco-leather. It is pleasant to the touch and thanks to it the smartphone does not slip out of your hand. In the middle of the cover is the traditional Motorola logo.
The back panel smoothly transitions into a thickening of the square rear camera block with rounded corners. The camera has three modules and an LED flash. The lenses protrude slightly above the surface of the back cover and dust may collect a little near them.
As mentioned above, for some reason they decided to make the frame plastic. It is approximately the same color as the back cover and has a narrowing on the side edges. To the usual controls, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro has added another button on the left edge, which is responsible for launching the Moto AI assistant, like the Razr 60 Ultra. The power and volume control buttons are located as usual, on the right edge of the smartphone. One of the microphones is located nearby.
There is another microphone on the top edge, as well as the Dolby Atmos logo. On the bottom, there is a conversational microphone, the main speaker, the Type-C connector, and the tray.
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro does not support memory cards. You can install one nanoSIM card in the tray. There is support for eSIM.
Like many current flagships, the Motorola Edge 60 Pro has an IP68/IP69 protection rating and meets the requirements of the MIL-STD-810H standard. Theoretically, the smartphone can withstand immersion to a depth of 1.5 meters in fresh water for up to 30 minutes, as well as powerful jets of high-temperature water for up to 30 seconds. The smartphone has convenient dimensions and a small weight: 160.7x73.1x8.2 mm, 186 g, it is pleasant to use. But the plastic frame was a little disappointing. I would like to see a metal one in a mid-range smartphone.
Display
Motorola Edge 60 Pro is equipped with a pOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.7 inches and a resolution of 2712x1220 pixels. The pixel density is 446 ppi, the aspect ratio is 20:9. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz (the predecessor had 144 Hz), the sensor polling rate is 300 Hz in game mode. The manufacturer claims that the color depth of the display is 10 bits, the color coverage is 100% of the DCI-P3 space. The maximum brightness in automatic mode is 1500 cd/m², peak — 4500 cd/m², there is support for HDR10+. The manufacturer also mentions Water Touch technology, thanks to which the screen should work perfectly with wet hands.
There are a lot of things in the settings: choosing between a dark and light theme, refresh rate (60, 120 and adaptive), color display modes, color temperature settings, flicker prevention (DC Dimming), scale of interface elements, night mode, contrast. There is no full-fledged Always on Display function. Information can only be displayed if you pick up the smartphone or touch the screen.
The screen is of high quality, with rich colors and sufficient brightness for the summer sun. Measurements showed that in the "Bright" mode the maximum brightness was 513.98 cd/m². The color gamut is much wider than sRGB, while the color reproduction is relatively accurate. There is a slight deviation towards cool shades.
In "Natural", the color gamut is close to sRGB. The maximum brightness is 505.54 cd/m². The color temperature is closer to the reference value.
Security
The means of identifying the owner in the Motorola Edge 60 Pro are absolutely standard for modern Android smartphones. There is an under-screen fingerprint scanner. It is optical, so it works a little slower than flagship ultrasonic scanners. But overall, the speed and accuracy of recognition are at a very good level. Unless the location of the scanner itself could be made a little more convenient by moving it higher. Although this is a more individual matter.
Facial recognition uses only the front camera without any additional sensors, so it's not a very reliable way to unlock. But it works quickly in good lighting.
Productivity and software
This year, Motorola decided to switch to MediaTek processors in the Edge line instead of Qualcomm. The Motorola Edge 60 Pro uses the 4-nanometer Mediatek Dimensity 8350 chip. It has one ARM Cortex-A715 core with a frequency of up to 3.35 GHz, three Cortex-A715 at 3.2 GHz and four Cortex-A510 at 2.2 GHz. The graphics accelerator is Mali G615-MC6. The amount of RAM is 12 GB LPDDR5X with the ability to expand thanks to the storage. The built-in memory is 512 GB UFS 4.0. The set of wireless interfaces includes tri-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. There is eSIM support. Global positioning systems GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO are supported.
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro shows a very good performance boost compared to the Edge 50 Pro on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. And overall, the performance is quite consistent with a good modern mid-range or slightly above-average smartphone.
Games run well. Call of Duty Mobile and Diablo Immortal run at a stable 60 FPS on high settings. XCOM 2 is locked at 30 FPS.
Under prolonged maximum loads, the processor overheats slightly and drops performance. In the CPU Throttling Test stress test, performance drops to about 73%. The case becomes warm, but not hot.
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro runs on Android 15 with the company's own Moto Hello UI. We have already seen it many times in our reviews of the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, so there is no point in dwelling on the interface in detail. It is close to pure Android and has some additional features from Motorola, including gestures and its own applications.
Out of the box, the smartphone comes with three AI assistants installed. The proprietary Moto AI, Google Gemini, and Perplexity. You can read more about their capabilities in a separate article.
Sounding
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro has a stereo sound system that is completely standard: the main and the front speakers. There is support for Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound, as well as various modes for games, movies or music, and an equalizer.
The volume range is very good, there is a little bit of low frequencies. At maximum volume, the sound is not very distorted. The balance of the channels is good, the difference is practically not felt.
Cameras
Motorola Edge 60 Pro has received a modern universal set of cameras:
- 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main module, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, 24mm with f/1.8 aperture, multi-directional phase detection autofocus and optical stabilization. 4K 30 FPS video resolution.
- 10-megapixel telephoto, 1μm with f/2.0 aperture, optical stabilization and 3x zoom;
- 50MP ultra-wide, 1.28µm with f/2.0 aperture, autofocus and 120° field of view; also used for macro. Video resolution 4K 30 FPS.
- Front camera: 50 MP, f/2.0;
The camera app interface is almost standard. The main settings are on the viewfinder screen, additional ones are in the additional menu, and modes are in the horizontal carousel. Additional features include the so-called styles: natural, Moto-branded, and the ability to generate your own using AI:
In general, all three cameras take very high-quality photos in almost any conditions without a sharp decrease in detail. In the daytime, colors are close to natural, with a wide dynamic range. Night photos sometimes have traces of processing in the form of not very natural shades. Main camera:
2x zoom (crop from main camera):
Telephoto camera with 3x zoom:
Ultra wide angle:
In macro mode, the photos are quite good. But in some places the autofocus does not work very accurately:
The cameras can shoot video up to 4K 30 FPS. The quality is very good. Examples of videos from the ultra-wide, main and telephoto cameras:
Battery life
The Motorola Edge 60 Pro is powered by a 6000 mAh Si/C battery, which is a very noticeable improvement over the Edge 50 Pro's 4500 mAh battery. However, the charging speed is slower. The new smartphone supports 90W charging power versus 125W in the previous model. The Power Delivery 3.0 standard is supported, and it takes about 50 minutes to fully charge. There is also support for wireless charging with a power of up to 15W.
The battery life of the Motorola Edge 60 Pro was very pleasing. Even with active use with performance tests, games and a large number of photos, the smartphone lasted about a day. With everyday use, without benchmarks and without games, you can get a day and a half. At the same time, do not limit yourself in communication, mail, YouTube or music via Bluetooth.
