Package contents
Unlike last year's Edge 50 models, the current line is packaged in white rather than mustard boxes. It has a minimum of printing: only the name Motorola Edge 60 Fusion and all the necessary basic information.
Motorola is also gradually abandoning the packaging of its smartphones with power supplies, so along with the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, the box includes a Type-C cable, a tray removal tool, documentation, and a protective bumper made of matte plastic in the same color as the smartphone.
The version for India received a 68W power supply, a larger battery, a slightly more powerful processor, but lost NFC.
Design and ergonomics
For the past few years, Motorola has been releasing smartphones with a fairly recognizable design, which, although slightly changing, retains the main features. The Motorola Edge 60 Fusion has a screen curved on four sides, which occupies almost the entire front panel. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The front camera in a round hole and the speaker in a barely noticeable cutout above the screen are all quite standard.
The back cover also has a curved shape on the sides. It is made of artificial leather or a material similar to nylon, depending on the color. The company continues to cooperate with Pantone and the color options are very interesting. The Slipstream came for review, which is also called gray on the box. In fact, it is gray with a blue tint. This option is made of artificial leather.
The main camera block is square in shape with rounded corners and a smooth transition into the back panel. At first glance, it may seem that the camera is triple, and the flash is located in the fourth round block. But in fact, there are only two cameras and this solution with four round blocks is made solely for aesthetic purposes.
The frame is made of blue-gray plastic and has a narrowing on the sides due to the rounded shape of the screen and back cover. The location of the functional elements is quite familiar. There is nothing on the left side, on the right side there is a microphone and three buttons: volume control and power. They are located at a convenient height, they are quite comfortable to use.
On the top edge there is another microphone, as well as the Dolby Atmos logo. On the bottom there is a third microphone, the main speaker, the Type-C 2.0 connector, and the tray.
The smartphone is available in different versions for different regions. The review included a version that will be available in Ukraine: with one physical SIM card and a slot for a MicroSD memory card. There is also eSIM support.
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion turned out to be quite compact and light: 161x73x8 mm, 180 g. At the same time, it received an IP68/IP69 protection rating. The company claims that it can be immersed to a depth of 1.5 meters in fresh water for up to 30 minutes. It is protected from powerful jets of high-temperature water for up to 30 seconds. It also meets the requirements of the MIL-STD-810H standard.
Display
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion is equipped with a pOLED screen with a diagonal of 6.67 inches and a resolution of 2712x1220 pixels. The pixel density is 446 ppi, the aspect ratio is 20:9. The maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz, the sensor polling rate is 300 Hz. The manufacturer claims that the color depth of the display is 10 bits, the color coverage is 100% of the DCI-P3 space. The maximum brightness in automatic mode is 1500 cd/m², peak — 4500 cd/m², there is support for HDR10+. Additionally, Water Touch technology is announced, thanks to which the screen should work perfectly even with wet hands or in the rain.
In the settings, you can choose between a dark and light theme, choose a refresh rate (60, 120, and adaptive), there are color display modes, color temperature settings, interface element scaling, night mode, contrast, anti-flicker, etc. Unfortunately, there is no full-fledged Always on Display function. Information can only be displayed if you pick up the smartphone or touch the screen.
In the "Bright" mode, the maximum brightness was 453.77 cd/m². The color gamut is much wider than sRGB, with a deviation towards cool shades.
In "Natural" the color gamut is close to sRGB, the deviation towards cold shades is slightly smaller. The maximum brightness is 438.64 cd/m².
Security
So far, almost all modern Android smartphones receive the same standard set of tools for biometric identification of the owner. And in the near future, it seems that there will be no significant changes. You can unlock the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion using facial recognition using the front camera. The method works quickly with sufficient ambient lighting.
There is also an under-screen optical fingerprint scanner. There were no complaints about the speed and accuracy of its operation. But its position is not the most convenient: it is placed quite close to the bottom edge of the smartphone. It doesn't take long to get used to it, but a slightly higher position would be more convenient.
Productivity and software
Unlike last year's Edge 50 Fusion, the new Motorola Edge 60 Fusion received a MediaTek chip instead of Qualcomm. This is a 4-nanometer Mediatek Dimensity 7300, which has 4 ARM Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of up to 2.5 GHz and 4 Cortex-A55 at 2.0 GHz. The graphics accelerator is Mali-G615 MC2. In Ukraine, only one option will be available: with 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM (expandable using a storage device) and 256 GB of uMCP permanent memory with the ability to expand with microSD cards.
In synthetic performance tests, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion shows slightly higher results than its predecessor. This is the level of performance of modern mid-range smartphones. But this is enough for the interface and applications to work quickly.
Games on the smartphone run quite well. Call of Duty Mobile and Diablo Immortal run at a stable 60 FPS on medium-high settings.
Under prolonged maximum loads, the processor operates stably at almost maximum performance for the first 8-9 minutes. Then the performance drops to approximately 74%. At the same time, the case hardly heats up.
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion has quite a good (though not the most modern) set of wireless interfaces: dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC. There is eSIM support. Global positioning systems GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO are supported.
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion runs on Android 15 with the proprietary Moto Hello UI interface. The company has a rather strange policy regarding updates. It seems that decisions are made separately for each model. Some models will receive 5 OS updates, for the hero of the review they promise 3 updates. Which is also not bad. The interface itself is very close to pure Android with extensive customization options and the usual interface logic. Motorola traditionally offers a number of additional gestures for more convenient interaction with the smartphone, as well as several of its own features.
In particular, the so-called "Tips Panel" in the application menu. The Moto AI assistant is always available at the bottom, and a second tab has been added, which is actually a news feed.
In addition to the standard Gemini from Google, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion also has its own aforementioned AI assistant called Moto AI, which is available at any time. For quick access, you can set up a double-tap gesture on the back of the smartphone. The functionality is quite familiar: quick search for the necessary information both on the smartphone and on the network, generation of images, texts, notes, etc. Despite the fact that the review was a version of the smartphone for Spain/Portugal, Moto AI understands the Ukrainian language perfectly.
In addition, there are several other proprietary applications. Moto with all the basic smartphone settings. Moto Secure for blocking certain applications, creating a secure folder, etc. Hub with games, notes, Moto Unplugged (temporarily turning off notifications for selected applications) and Smart Connect (connecting to external displays, PCs, laptops, headphones and smart devices).
Sounding
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion reproduces stereo sound using the standard scheme for modern smartphones: the main and conversational speakers. In recent years, the Edge line has pleased with the sound quality, and the Edge 60 Fusion is no exception. As for a model of the mid/mid-budget segment, the smartphone sounds really good. There is enough volume, there are a few lows, the balance of channels is very good, the difference is practically not felt.
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion supports Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound, has several presets for different usage scenarios, and an equalizer.
Cameras
Like last year's predecessor, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion has a dual rear camera setup. It includes:
- 50MP Sony Lytia 700C main module, 1/1.56", 1.0µm, 24mm with f/1.9 aperture, multi-directional phase detection autofocus and optical stabilization. 4K 30 FPS video resolution.
- 13MP 1/3-inch, 1.12µm, 12mm ultra-wide with f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, and 120° field of view; also used for macro. 4K 30 FPS video resolution.
- Front camera: 32 MP, f/2.2, 1/3.14", 0.7µm;
Unfortunately, the telephoto camera did not appear, so the zoom is only in the form of a crop from the main camera. The camera application interface is quite standard. The main settings are on the viewfinder screen, additional ones are in the additional menu, modes are a horizontal carousel:
In good lighting, both cameras take good quality photos, with high detail and close to natural colors. Night photography is also very good, but the ultra-wide-angle one noticeably loses in detail. In some places there are not very natural yellowish-orange shades, but this is typical of most modern smartphones, especially not flagship-level ones. Main camera:
2x zoom (crop from main camera):
Ultra wide angle:
In macro mode, the photos are quite good. But in some places the autofocus does not work very accurately:
The cameras can shoot video up to 4K 30 FPS. The quality is generally not bad, but the detail is not the best. Here are some examples of 4K 30 FPS video from different cameras:
Battery life
Motorola Edge 60 Fusion received a battery with a capacity of 5200 mAh. The battery life is not record-breaking, but very good. With everyday use, the smartphone can easily last a day or a little more. This is a small number of calls, a few hours of music via Bluetooth, a browser, mail, instant messengers, social networks, a camera, videos on YouTube. In the PC Mark battery test with 50% brightness, the smartphone lasted almost 13 hours, which is a very good indicator.
The smartphone supports 68W fast charging, which allows you to fully charge the battery in about 50 minutes. It charges to about 80% in half an hour. Unfortunately, wireless charging is not supported.
