Package contents

Anker Soundcore AeroFit 2 comes in a fairly compact box made of hard cardboard in white and blue. The standard color scheme for Soundcore. The box has a picture of the headphones and all the main technical specifications and features.

The delivery set is minimal, although in this case it is difficult to add anything, because everything you need is there. Namely: a charging case with headphones inside, a USB Type-C cable for charging, and a short instruction with a QR code for downloading the proprietary application.

Design and usability

Anker soundcore AeroFit 2 differ significantly in their design from the manufacturer's previous models. Each earbud is a soft silicone earpiece, on one side of which there is a block with microphones and emitters, which is placed opposite the ear canal. And a block with batteries on the opposite side.

The headband is quite flexible and feels quite comfortable around the ear. But the main interesting feature is the ability to adjust the angle of the main unit. This allows you to more accurately position the emitters in front of your ear, taking into account physiological characteristics.

The headphone housings have a streamlined shape resembling a bean. They are made mainly of matte black plastic. There are Soundcore logos on the outside of the main units. The sensor zones are also located there.

There are microphones on the top and bottom of the main units, four in total in the Anker Soundcore AeroFit 2. On the inside there are large speaker grilles, markings for the left and right earphones, as well as a smaller grille closer to the top. The instructions are silent about its purpose.

The battery packs are slightly smaller in size, but have a similar streamlined shape to the main ones. Of the functional elements, they only have a pair of charging contacts.

The weight of each earphone is 8.5 g and they have quite massive dimensions. In general, Anker soundcore AeroFit 2 are quite comfortable for everyday use. But their rather large size and weight may not be very appropriate during running and general sports. The earphones have protection against dust and splashes according to the IP55 standard.

The Anker Soundcore AeroFit 2 charging case is large, but it is flat, making it quite convenient to carry in your pocket. The case is made of matte black plastic with the Soundcore logo on top and a Soft Touch coating. There is a recess in the front for easier opening, in which a wide LED charge indicator is located.

There is auto-adjustment at both extreme points, the cover is securely fixed. Inside there are only places for headphones with contacts and left-right markings.

On the back of the case there is a Type-C connector for charging, as well as a button. Pressing it for 3 seconds puts the headphones into pairing mode.

Management

To control the Anker soundcore AeroFit 2, quite familiar sensors are used on each earbud. They have a sufficient area for comfortable use and getting used to them happens quickly. Literally in a day of use, there were no false touches.

By default, the control scheme is basic and not the most convenient. Double-tap the right earbud to play, pause, and double-tap the left earbud to skip to the next track. During a call, double-tap either earbud to answer the call. Tap for 2 seconds to reject the call.

But the Soundcore app allows you to customize the control scheme very flexibly. Single, double, triple and long touches are supported. You can configure track switching, volume adjustment, and voice assistant launch. So you can configure the option that suits you.

Connectivity and functionality

To connect Anker soundcore AeroFit 2, Bluetooth version 5.4 is used. The headphones stably maintain a connection with the smartphone. Even through two walls, the connection was stable, without interruptions. The headphones support SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs. Looking ahead, it is worth saying that the quality using LDAC is indeed higher (provided that conditional FLAC is played), but this is only relevant in a quiet room. There is support for Multipoint, but then LDAC will be inactive.

When the headphones are connected for the first time, the proprietary soundcore application shows the user a short instruction on how to properly place, clean, and manage the headphones.

The main screen shows the headphones with battery level (including the case), LDAC (if used) and access to basic settings, including Multipoint (Dual Connection) and Gaming Mode (low latency mode)

The sound settings section has ready-made presets, an 8-band equalizer for self-tuning the sound, as well as a separate virtual surround sound for movies and games.

The second section is responsible for configuring the control scheme, which we already talked about a little earlier. Another part of the settings is in the additional menu, which is opened by the gear button. There is a codec selection, channel balance, auto-off function, headphone search and firmware update.

But the most interesting feature is at the bottom of the main settings menu. This is the AI Translation translator. According to the manufacturer, it supports over 100 languages. Including Ukrainian. It works both ways. The headphones can recognize the words of the interlocutor, translate and play the translation to the user. And vice versa: the user says the desired phrase, and the translation is played back to the interlocutor by the smartphone. The Ukrainian-English pair works well and this function can really come in handy for those who travel a lot.

Sound and microphones

The Anker Soundcore AeroFit 2 uses large dynamic drivers measuring 20 x 11.5 mm. The hourglass-shaped sound chamber and the closer fit to the ear canal are said to help boost low frequencies. In open-back headphones, the lowest frequencies are usually the ones that suffer the most. So they are slightly boosted in this case.

The sound of the headphones was pleasantly pleasing: it is quite balanced and detailed. You can play with presets and the equalizer, but the Soundcore Signature mode seemed optimal to me. There are a lot of low frequencies, they are full-bodied, have a clear attack and very good control. The midrange frequencies are not relegated to the background. There are enough of them in quantity. Yes, the detail is not ideal, but live instruments and vocals sound natural. The high frequencies are quite a bit smoothed, which is typical for headphones aimed at the mass user. Their presentation is a bit simplified, but in the overall picture they do their job and the sound does not tend to be dark, oversaturated with low frequencies.

In general, Anker soundcore AeroFit 2 sound very pleasant and driving. They are omnivorous in terms of musical genres. But, of course, to enjoy the sound, you need to be in a quiet room. On the street, listening to music can be called more of a background. But usually users of open headphones know what they want and fully understand this specifics. On the other hand, this gives you the opportunity to always hear what is happening around.

The headphones have 4 microphones. The voice quality is very good, even on the street. External noise is filtered out very well and the interlocutor does not have to ask again. The voice does not sound very synthetic, although the frequency range is somewhat limited.

Battery life

The manufacturer claims that the Anker soundcore AeroFit 2 can work up to 10 hours on a single charge. And together with the charging case, this figure is 42 hours. Of course, the battery life depends significantly on the codec and volume. The headphones were used exclusively with LDAC at a fairly high volume. The actual operating time was approximately 8-8.5 hours, which is a good figure.

The headphones charge in about an hour. The case takes about two hours when charging with a cable. There is support for wireless charging, but it takes a little longer. Fast charging is also supported: 10 minutes should be enough for 4 hours of listening.

What we liked
  • Sound quality
  • Convenient touch control
  • Functionality and application
  • AI Translation
  • Battery life
  • IP55 protection
  • Multipoint support
What we didn't like
  • Massive dimensions
  • Complete lack of sound insulation

If we evaluate the Anker soundcore AeroFit 2 exclusively in its own category of open TWS headphones, then this is probably one of the most interesting models available. The headphones have pleasant sound quality, convenient control, functional application, Multipoint support and long battery life. And, of course, the AI Translation translation function, which really works. The fit is quite good, but the large size can cause inconvenience during sports. Those who are not yet familiar with this form factor should understand that there is no sound insulation at all and on the street the music will only perform a background function.
