The Ministry of Defence has completed the transformation of the defense product quality assurance system, the department said in a statement.
"The principle of total quality control will change the modern model of partnership relations with manufacturers, based on international NATO and EU standards," the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
The updated quality assurance system provides for the following approach:
- quality management at all stages of production;
- capacity check;
- audit and certification;
- prevention of defects;
- integration into the international quality assurance system and mutual recognition with NATO and partners.
"The basis of the new system is ISO and AQAP (NATO) standards, the principles of risk management and trust in the manufacturer. The key difference is the legally defined personal responsibility of the manufacturer for product quality. This should stimulate enterprises to implement modern quality management systems and constantly improve production processes," the Ministry of Defence explained.
It was added that a national quality assurance system has already been formed, which includes a specialized structural unit of the Ministry of Defence and its territorial bodies, a regulatory framework, an information and communication system, as well as mechanisms for mutual recognition with NATO countries and partners.
Through its territorial divisions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs carries out audits of enterprise quality management systems, monitors production processes, and inspects individual stages of production.
"As part of the territorial divisions, departments for quality assurance of serial production, repair, development and modernization have been created, which will directly support state contracts (agreements) as separate projects," the Ministry of Defence noted.
These units are tasked with ensuring the quality of high-tech and high-value weapons and military equipment.
It was previously reported that the Ministry of Defence is implementing a digital system to support state quality assurance of defense industry products.
