Lancet Response: France, Germany, and the UK Are Testing a New Strike Drone

- 10 July, 02:40 PM

The armed forces of France, Germany, Great Britain and other European countries are testing the new HX-2 strike drone. This was stated by Helsing's Vice President of Sales Simon Bruynes, reports "Militarnyi" with reference to Hartpunkt.

According to a company representative, successful completion of the tests could pave the way for the drone to be purchased by the aforementioned countries. For example, the German Bundeswehr plans to complete testing of the HX-2 by the end of this year.

Simon Bruynes also noted that the first HX-2 strike drones have already been transferred to Ukraine for qualification, which is expected to be completed within a few weeks.

Helsing said it sees the HX-2 as a European answer to the Russian Lancet. Helsing co-founder Gundbert Scherf said the company's goal is to make the HX-2 not only more powerful but also more affordable than the Lancet.

The drone was designed from the ground up for mass production, significantly reducing the cost per unit compared to traditional systems.

Gundbert Scherf added that the first feedback is already coming from Ukraine, where the price of the HX-2 is described as "very economical." This is probably also due to the fact that Helsing does not receive economic profit from supplying these drones to Ukraine.

The company is currently capable of producing 450 HX-2 units per month at its Resilience Factory (RF-1) in southern Germany, with the potential to increase this to 1,000 systems per month with additional training.

Helsing is also preparing to build a second Resilience Factory, which will increase total monthly production to approximately 2,500 HX-2 units.

Helsing data indicate that the drone has a flight range of 100 km, a weight of up to 12 kg, and a maximum speed during the final approach to the target of up to 220 km/h. The HX-2 can be equipped with various types of ammunition weighing up to 4 kg for the purpose of combating armored vehicles or defeating fortifications.
