The procurement agencies of the Ministry of Defense, the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) and the State Logistics Operator (DOT), presented the functionality of the DOT-Chain Defence IT system during an online meeting with representatives of more than fifty military units. Its launch is planned in the near future.
"DOT-Chain Defence is a digital platform that will allow the military to independently choose weapons purchased with AOZ funds. During its development, DOT consulted with representatives of brigades responsible for logistics or work with UAVs. In particular, soldiers of the 3rd Airborne Brigade and the 110th Airborne Brigade," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The defense ministry explained that each military unit will have a personal account and a certain amount of virtual money. The "showcase" section will provide a list of drones available in the system, indicating their characteristics: prices, technical parameters, ratings and reviews, etc.
The Ministry of Defense noted that when ordering, a representative of the military unit will be able to indicate the required number of UAVs. If the request exceeds the manufacturer's available stocks, the system will allow for a preliminary order. It also provides for forecasting the delivery times of both available and pre-ordered drones. The entire bureaucratic part of the process - from contracting manufacturers to monitoring the implementation of deliveries - will be carried out by the AOZ.
"When developing the platform, we focused primarily on the needs of the military. It was fundamentally important to provide them with freedom of choice - after all, they know best which UAVs with what characteristics they need for a specific task. DOT-Chain Defence provides this opportunity. In addition, we significantly reduce logistics thanks to direct interaction between the military unit and the supplier. This will reduce the time from ordering to delivering the drone to the position - initially to a few weeks, and later to days," explained Arsen Zhumadilov, director of AOZ.
Further plans include a gradual expansion of the range of UAVs, ammunition for them, electronic warfare/electronic warfare equipment, and ground robotic complexes.
Earlier, the AOZ announced preparations for the launch of the DOT-Chain Defence marketplace, which will allow manufacturers of codified FPV drones to offer their products directly to the military. The introduction of DOT-Chain Defence is part of the AOZ's new drone procurement model.
