Germany may join the development of Ukraine's defense industry. This includes the production of modern long-range weapons. Spiegel reports this with reference to government sources, writes Bukvy.
And although the German government no longer plans to publicly announce the details of the defense aid, preparations are already underway behind the scenes. According to media reports, discussions are underway on how Germany can help Ukrainian companies produce long-range weapons.
Moreover, the publication notes that this is not only about the supply of ready-made systems. It is also about strategic support for the Ukrainian defense sector to strengthen its ability to independently manufacture weapons.
It is assumed that this topic may be one of the main ones during the meeting between Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is planned in Berlin on May 28.
Recall that previously, the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Ukraine can rely on the country's new government regarding the transfer of Taurus missiles.
When asked about the supply of these weapons, the Chancellor said that "President Zelenskyy knows that he can rely on me and the Federal Republic."
