Enemy AI drone V2U now able to operate completely without communication – Flash
The enemy AI drone V2U, which searches for a target and can recognize objects, no longer uses an LTE modem, military radio technology specialist Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov said.
According to him, at least three units have already been found that do not have a modem on board. Flash notes that the drone is now fully autonomous.
"That is, now the UAV has become completely without a single communication channel. It navigates autonomously and attacks the target autonomously. It is impossible to suppress its electronic warfare control and navigation, because there is nothing to suppress. I consider this technology a threat to the future: a drone can, for example, fly alone over a road or railway track and look for targets for attack. There have already been cases when a drone attacked a crowd of people in a market," the expert noted.
According to Flash, in previous models the modem was located on top under the cover.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian AI drone received a new version. The modification does not have tail stabilizers in the center. After completing the reconnaissance mission, the drone lands on a parachute. This is the second version of the V2U - reconnaissance. The first was a strike.
According to GUR, this series of drones is based on the Chinese minicomputer Leetop A203, and a computer vision system is probably used for navigation. The versions available for study used the Microdrive Tandem-4GS-OEM-11 modem-router, which works with a SIM card of a Ukrainian mobile operator.
