The Ukrainian company DeepStrikeTech has developed a new multi-purpose strike drone Batyar, which is capable of covering a distance of 800 km, reports Militarnyi.
It was originally designed as a deep-strike kamikaze drone, but its functionality has since been expanded to include a decoy, bomber, or frontline strike drone.
The Batyar has a gasoline engine and weighs 60 kg. In the version for long-range operations, it carries a warhead weighing 18 kg, and for front-line missions - 30 kg. One of the main advantages is the ability to launch from a catapult or a car, which allows it to be used without special platforms. Even in a damaged state, the drone is able to maintain a given course.
The shape of the Batyar resembles the Russian-Iranian Shahed, but the similarity is only visual. The aerodynamics of the device were completely developed by Ukrainian engineers, based on Western technical documentation. In the future, the manufacturer plans to develop a more powerful version of this drone with an 80 kg warhead.
Recall that another Ukrainian "Shahed-like" unmanned complex called "GUPALO-N" was recently codified, which works as an air target for training, combat coordination and testing of various air defense systems. In turn, Russia has modernized the Geran-2 (Shahed-136) strike drone and is now installing a 90 kg warhead in it instead of 50.
