The Ukrainian defense industry is expanding the production of artillery systems, in particular the Bohdana howitzer, by developing new variants based on foreign platforms. This is reported by Defence Blog, citing Polish journalist Mariusz Marszalkowski.

According to the source, the manufacturer plans to integrate the 155mm artillery system onto South Korean and German chassis, including possible tracked versions. In addition, a modification with a barrel length of 39 calibers is being considered.

According to Marszalkowski, as of early September 2025, 345 wheeled versions of the Bogdana on various types of chassis have been manufactured, and 100 towed guns have been completed. The current production rate exceeds 30 units per month, and all work is carried out on the territory of Ukraine.

The 39-caliber barrel modification could be an alternative to longer systems, providing flexibility in various tactical conditions. Mounting the howitzer on foreign chassis will improve mobility, survivability, and logistical compatibility with NATO partner countries' equipment.

It was previously reported that the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant, the manufacturer of the Bogdan self-propelled gun, has registered an international patent for it. The development is patented as a separate artillery module designed for installation on various chassis, or as a complete artillery system in full configuration.
