TAF Drones introduced the low-cost tactical drone "Babka"
The Ukrainian company TAF Drones has developed a new tactical drone "Babka", which combines accessibility with efficiency in electronic warfare. This is stated in the material of "Militarnyi". This drone is designed for aerial reconnaissance and correction of artillery fire at the tactical level. In May 2025, it passed codification, which allows its official supply to the Ukrainian army.
The idea of creating "Babka" arose from the need for cheap but functional reconnaissance drones, the loss of which would not lead to significant liability of the unit to the command, as is the case with expensive and more complex UAVs.
The "Babka" has an aircraft-type design and is equipped with a digital video system with a 30x optical zoom. The drone is capable of operating without GPS navigation and uses multi-channel communication with pseudo-random frequency tuning (PRTCH). This method is used to avoid interference, prevent interception, and provide multiple access and code division communication.
The drone has a flight time of up to 2 hours, and a maximum range of 40 km. The complex includes 2–4 drones, a repeater, a ground station, and tablets with the "Kropyva" system, which significantly reduces the time between target detection and firing.
By the way, the GUR recently released a video of Ukrainian UJ-26 "Bober" strike drones with a thermal imaging camera hitting several Russian air defense systems and a fighter jet in occupied Crimea. The video shows the "Bober" dodging enemy air defense missiles and continuing to head towards its target.
