A universal "Murena" ammunition feeding system has been developed in Ukraine
At the Brave1 event, a Ukrainian developer presented the "Murena" system, a modular solution for supplying ammunition to assault machine gunners and anti-tank guided missiles, which is adapted to all belt machine guns and grenade launchers used in Ukraine. This is reported by Militarnyi.
"Murena" is designed for weapons of various calibers, including PKM, M240, large-caliber M2 Browning and Mk19 easel grenade launcher. The system has several versions: positional with a container and a "sleeve", as well as assault in the form of a portable backpack.
Each version of the system takes into account the physical characteristics of a specific type of tape, which is important for avoiding jams. Developer Taras Golota noted that the main difficulty was adapting to .50 BMG and 12.7 mm tapes - given their rigidity and specific bending, which affects the smoothness of the feed. However, according to him, this difficulty has been solved.
Currently, the development is also being integrated into the designs of combat turrets of ground robotic complexes. In particular, adaptation to the DevDroid and Moroz systems has already been carried out, and work is also underway on a version of the tape for the "ShaBlya" turret.
Taras Golota noted that he has not yet codified the product in the Ministry of Defence, as this would lead to an increase in its price by 30–40%. Instead, the developer sells the systems directly to military units using a simplified procedure. The first delivery took place back in 2022 for the defenders of Bakhmut, and the pricing policy has remained unchanged since then.
