Ukrainian developers have introduced a reusable interceptor drone with a shotgun

During the Iron Demo 2025 demonstration event, Besomar presented a reusable aircraft-type interceptor drone equipped with a shotgun with an automated firing system. As the developers told the publication Militarnyi, in the current configuration the device is capable of firing two shots, but if necessary, the number of shots can be increased to four.

The drone is reportedly designed to neutralize enemy drones moving at speeds up to 200 km/h, including Gerber-type UAVs and reconnaissance aircraft. Thanks to a digital communication system with a PPC function, the interceptor can approach the target, remaining unnoticed by its evasion systems, and hit it.

A feature of the design is the possibility of automatic firing: a sensor in the nose of the device initiates automatic fire with the pilot's permission when the target enters the hit zone, which increases effectiveness against maneuverable objects. A recoilless system based on 12-gauge cartridges is used for firing, which ensures the stability of the device during firing.

Earlier, in March 2025, Sky Defenders had already tested a similar drone with a shotgun. Such systems are installed not only on aircraft platforms, but also on multicopters to intercept Mavic and FPV drones.

It recently became known that Ukraine has developed another model of interceptor drone, which is designed to combat Russian strike drones of the Shahed and Gerber types.
