Italian defense technology developer AURYN Aero has unveiled its new reusable AY-44Q Zombie target drone, which can be reused after being shot down. It is designed to train the military in combating FPV drones, which are increasingly being used on the battlefield.

The AY-44Q Zombie realistically simulates aerial threats, allowing the military to effectively practice drone combat skills. The main feature of the Zombie is its ability to withstand damage and be restored for reuse through repair. This significantly reduces the cost of training materials and allows for more training sessions without the need for constant replacement of drones. The manufacturer emphasizes that its product helps optimize resources and increase the effectiveness of military training.

AURYN Aero already uses the AY-44Q Zombie in its training center, where it conducts training using 12-gauge smoothbore shotguns, including the Italian Benelli anti-drone shotgun. In addition, the company offers its own testing range for anti-drone systems, including electronic warfare and detection equipment.

While the price, exact specifications, and the level of damage the Zombie can withstand are still unknown, its multiple uses could significantly change the approach to military training in countering drone threats.
