The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate 1 billion hryvnias to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Phoenix unmanned aircraft systems unit of the State Border Service.

The funds will come from the state budget reserve fund and will be used to purchase strike and reconnaissance drones, as well as the equipment necessary for their operation.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko. She noted that "Phoenix" became the first specialized unmanned aerial vehicle unit in the structure of the State Security Service of Ukraine, and it is also one of the most effective units. According to her, last year "Phoenix" hit about 8 thousand enemy targets, causing losses to equipment in the amount estimated at $60 million.

By the way, recently, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced an agreement with Ukraine to allocate 2 billion euros for the production of drones.
