An enterprise from the Ukroboronprom concern, together with the Belgian company KNDS Belgium, will produce 30 mm ammunition, Military Journal reports.
Information that the parties had signed a Memorandum of Cooperation appeared on May 20, 2025. At that time, Ukrobornprom stated that the document referred to the intention to organize the joint procurement of medium-caliber rounds.
In the statement, Ukroboronprom did not specify the caliber of the ammunition, but noted that they are used for firing from automatic guns and defeating manpower, light armored vehicles, and low-flying air targets.
Now, Military Journal, citing Sudinfo, indicates that the deal aims to produce 30 mm ammunition compatible with Soviet systems. That is, we are talking about the caliber 30 × 165 mm.
It was also recalled here that ammunition of this caliber is used in large quantities on the BMP-2, BTR-3, BTR-4, in the "Spis" (BMP-1TS) and "Sich" combat modules, Mi-24P helicopters, boats of the "Gyurza-M" project, etc.
