Lithuania plans to deploy a Ukrainian acoustic drone detection system, the country's Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief, General Raimundas Vaikšnoras, announced on LRT.

He shared this information during a discussion of the incident on July 28, when an unidentified drone was spotted in Lithuanian airspace. This is not the first such situation  on July 10, a Gerber model UAV also flew from Belarus to Lithuania.

In the context of the introduction of an acoustic drone detection system, the Commander-in-Chief of the Lithuanian Armed Forces stated that "this year is a start - money has been allocated for the purchase." Testing and trials will be conducted by the end of the year.

"...and, as the Air Force Commander mentioned today, next year there will be a more intensive implementation of these systems. They were already known since last fall, but the procedural aspects were a bit delayed, since this is, one might say, a Ukrainian system that we still had to adapt to the implementation of our American systems, due to sensitive matters," explained Raimundas Vaikšnoras.

As you know, several systems are used primarily in Ukraine. For example, there is the ZVOOK project  a network of acoustic sensors for detecting aerial objects. Its official website states that the network helps conventional air defense systems detect and repel attacks by low-altitude cruise missiles and enemy drones, and warn the civilian population.

In addition, there is the FENEK acoustic detection system. Its network of devices can detect both airborne (UAVs, helicopters) and ground (vehicles, explosions, loud talking, illegal logging) threats.
