Ukrainian underwater drone "Toloka" adapted for demining the Black Sea
The Ukrainian underwater drone "Toloka" has been adapted for mine clearance in the Black Sea. The development was presented at the "Kiel Munition Clearance Week", says a post by the "Ukrainian Council of Gunsmiths" association.
It is noted there that the presented solution of the Ukrainian company is already ready for underwater mine clearance of water areas.
The association emphasizes that underwater demining is one of the most expensive and complex types of demining and is the least regulated by law. Of the more than 100 demining operators in Ukraine, only ten have a certificate to conduct such work and the relevant experience.
Currently, about 13,500 km² of water in Ukraine are mined. The total environmental losses due to hostilities on water bodies may amount to about 80 billion euros. The total economic losses due to the blockade of Ukrainian ports and river routes are even greater.
Recall, the underwater drone "Toloka" TLK-150 was first presented in April 2023. It is 2.5 meters long, and its range is about 100 km. The developer assumed that the drone would be able to carry a warhead from 20 to 50 kg.
It was planned to create two more versions of "Toloka" - TLK-400 and TLK-1000. The length of the first will be from 4 to 6 meters. It will have a warhead weighing up to 500 kg and a range of up to 1200 km. TLK-1000 will have a length of up to 12 meters, a warhead weight of up to 5000 kg with a range of up to about 2000 km.
