Ukrainian Chief-1 drone for hunting enemy UAVs approved for operation
The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved for operation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Ukrainian-made Chief-1 unmanned aviation complex. This was reported by the Main Directorate for Lifecycle Support of Armaments and Military Equipment.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the drone is designed to destroy enemy aircraft or manpower with a module that uses shotgun cartridges.
"Chief-1 has a light and strong frame, powerful engines, high maneuverability, and a successful design for air combat," the defense ministry said in a statement.
It was added that the drones are equipped with systems for automatic recognition and achieving the optimal distance to hit the target. They can fire in manual or automatic mode.
"Chief-1 destroys enemy FPVs, bombers, some types of correction aircraft, and reconnaissance aircraft," the Ministry of Defense noted.
By the way, recently the Latvian company Origin Robotics introduced the Blaze interceptor – an autonomous solution with artificial intelligence to counter enemy drones.
Blaze combines computer vision and AI-based radar tracking to precisely engage air targets. Ukraine is seen as a potential first user of the development.
