President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told reporters at a meeting that Ukraine has already begun using special interceptors to destroy Russian Shahed drones. According to him, mobile fire groups, which previously mainly used machine guns, are now armed with other types of weapons, including new interceptor drones. Today, such mobile groups shoot down "about a third" of enemy strike drones, Zelenskyy added.
The President emphasized that the production of such concealers is only increasing. These devices are currently produced by four Ukrainian companies, two of which are already demonstrating quite successful results.
Zelensky noted that the development of this weapon has been going on for a long time and to accelerate mass production, Ukraine will receive additional financial support. In particular, Germany has agreed to finance the production of these drones - there are relevant agreements with Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Canada has also expressed its readiness to assist Ukraine in this matter. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Mark Carney at the G7 summit.
Countering enemy drones of the Shahed type is one of the priority tasks of the Ukrainian military, as Russia is actively increasing their production and improving their technical characteristics, which makes it difficult to destroy them.
A specialist in the field of military radio technologies, Serhii "Flash" stressed in his blog that with such dynamics, Russia will "blow up" all of Ukraine with "Shaheds" and if our country does not start acting right now, then the end will come to Ukrainian infrastructure, production, and defense facilities.
Today, reliance on allies is becoming less and less reliable, and in order to survive, Ukraine is forced to very quickly find and scale up its own production. And there is such a tool - an interceptor drone.
