Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is discussing a possible bilateral deal with U.S. President Donald Trump that would see the purchase of American weapons in exchange for the supply of Ukrainian drones, in an interview with The New York Post.
According to Zelensky, it is about mutual support in the field of aviation technology. Ukraine could purchase some of the American weapons in exchange for military developments acquired during the war, although specific details of the agreement are not yet disclosed. Zelensky stressed that the American side is interested in unmanned technologies developed by Ukrainian specialists, calling the agreement a "mega deal" beneficial to both states.
"The people of America need this technology, and you need to have it in your arsenal. I think this is really a mega deal, a win-win, as they say," President Zelenskyy said.
The president also emphasized Ukraine's readiness to share experience in the field of drones with both American and European partners — in particular, Denmark, Norway, and Germany.
The agreement could be an important step in strengthening US defense capabilities, given the warnings of military experts about the lag of American unmanned technologies behind those of Russia and China.
The United States is now actively adopting Ukraine's experience in using strike drones, and is also trying to catch up with China, which is the largest manufacturer of drones in the world. Defence wrote about this in a separate article.
