The United Kingdom will support Ukraine's air defense by delivering 5 additional Raven anti-aircraft missile systems, Defence Blog reports, citing BFBS Forces News. These systems will enhance the Ukrainian military's ability to intercept enemy Shahed attack drones and other aerial targets.
The Raven air defense system was developed by the Royal Air Force in just four months. It is based on the Supercat HMT-600 military truck and is equipped with a vertical launch module for ASRAAM missiles.
These missiles, which have a warhead weighing 10 kg, are usually launched from a fighter jet, but in this case they are modified for ground use. They are capable of speeds of up to Mach 3 and hit targets at a distance of up to 15 km. This provides high mobility and effectiveness in destroying low-flying drones and even combat aircraft.
The system first appeared in Ukraine in the spring of 2023. Since then, more than 400 missiles have been launched with it, reaching their targets in 70% of cases. In total, the British side has already transferred 8 such complexes to Ukraine and now 5 more are being prepared for shipment.
