Indian components found in Russian Shaheds – Yermak
Indian components have been discovered in Russian strike drones. We are talking about UAVs used on the front and against civilians, in particular "Shahed"/"Geran". This was reported by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.
He emphasized the need to deprive the Russians of the opportunity to obtain components from other countries and stop the killings of Ukrainians. At the same time, the head of the OP added that "the purchase of Russian energy resources is financing of war, which does not contribute to peace."
He also referred to a Hindustan Times article about Indian components in enemy drones. Citing informed sources, the publication wrote that Ukraine has officially raised the issue of using electronic components in drones manufactured or assembled by Indian companies with the Indian government and the European Union.
We are talking about two companies - Vishay Intertechnology and Aura Semiconductor. The Ukrainian investigation revealed that electronic components from these companies were used by Russia in the production of Shahed 136.
The sources added that the companies had not formally violated any Indian laws. The country's Ministry of External Affairs said that India's exports of dual-use goods were in line with its international non-proliferation obligations and were based on its domestic legal and regulatory framework. The department also reported on the relevant verification.
Recall that in April 2025, the Defense Ministry of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence Agency reported that for the first time, an Indian-made component had been discovered in a Russian weapon. This was a clock buffer from Aura Semiconductor.
In early July, the GUR announced a trend of replacing Western components in Russian strike UAVs with Chinese ones. It was noted that in the Geran-2 UAV (one of the names of the Shaheda in Russia), which were discovered in May 2025, the share of Chinese electronics had increased to 60-65%.
