Turkish company Roketsan has unveiled the Tayfun Block 4 ballistic missile , the country's first hypersonic development of its kind. The manufacturer showed off the new weapon at the 17th International Defense Industry Exhibition IDEF 2025, Defence Industry Europe reports.
The missile is characterized by increased maneuverability and high speed, which, according to the manufacturer, allows it to effectively perform tasks at significant distances and avoid interception.
The Tayfun Block 4 is 10 m long, 938 mm in diameter, weighs 7,200 kg and has a range of up to 800 km at this stage. Its multi-purpose warhead is designed to hit strategic targets, including air defense systems, command posts, hangars and critical infrastructure. According to Turkish sources, this missile flies at a speed of Mach 6 to 8 and has a warhead weighing 750 kg.
The Tayfun Block 4 is reportedly already in the mass production stage. The first launch of this missile, which is expected to enter service with Turkey in the near future, will take place by the end of this year.
