The United States has announced a tender to manufacture 65 MSFV armored vehicles for Ukraine. This is stated in the tender description.
Such vehicles were manufactured for Afghanistan in 2019. According to the terms of the tender, the vehicles, along with a year's supply of spare parts, are to be manufactured over three years at the expense of the USAI program (Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative). The contract has not yet been signed.
According to open sources, the MSFV is a modification of the M1117 armored personnel carrier, which has enhanced protection and an elongated hull. This allows it to accommodate up to 10 people inside.
It is currently unknown which modification will be produced for Ukraine, but three MSFV variants were produced for Afghanistan:
· with a turret from the M1117 - 40mm Mk19 grenade launcher and 12.7mm M2 Browning machine gun;
· with an open turret for a machine gun;
· sanitary option.
In addition, under previous contracts, Ukraine is to receive more than 400 M1117 armored personnel carriers, but it is not known when all of them will be delivered.
Earlier, it was reported that North Korea intends to transfer up to 100 units of equipment to the Russians, including tanks and armored personnel carriers. This was reported by the head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Kirill Budanov.
