The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the fire damage to the seaport "Olya" in the Astrakhan region of Russia. It was carried out on August 14 by units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces.
" This facility is used by the Russian aggressor as an important logistical point for the supply of military goods from Iran ," the General Staff said in a statement.
It was added here that, according to available information, the ship "Port Olya 4", loaded with components for the "Shahed" type UAV and ammunition from Iran, was hit. The results of the hit are being clarified.
According to the War&Sanctions portal, this is a universal dry cargo vessel used for military cargo. It is owned by the sanctioned Russian maritime shipping company MG-Flot LLC.
The vessel regularly plies the Caspian Sea, transporting cargo between Iran and Russia. In September 2024, the US imposed sanctions on the vessel as property of the sanctioned LLC MG-Flot.
By the way, recently, the presidential advisor on sanctions policy, Vladyslav Vlasyuk, stated that the Russian army is using four main modifications of strike drones against Ukraine, created on the basis of the Iranian Shahed-136.
The list includes the original Shahed-136, "Geranium-2", "Harpy-A1" and "Gerbera".
