The United States is negotiating with a number of countries to supply Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems, a source in the American government told Suspilne on condition of anonymity.
"These will be separate agreements with individual countries," the senior official said.
The interlocutor noted that the US Department of Defense is discussing possible bilateral agreements with a number of countries on the supply of American Patriots to Ukraine. The process is at the negotiation stage and has no deadline.
At the same time, the source did not specify how many and which participating countries are participating in the negotiations.
"There are no specific terms or deadlines yet," the official said.
According to him, the goal of the negotiations is to determine who is able to provide what.
Recently, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that the United States and Germany had agreed to transfer five Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. He noted that the Patriot systems would be transferred to Ukraine "as soon as possible," given their urgent need.
Earlier, the US Department of Defense informed Switzerland that it would review the priorities for the supply of Patriot systems to support Ukraine. As a result, Switzerland will receive the ordered systems later than planned.
