A new container-type missile system has been spotted at Fort Bragg military base in the United States. Judging by the published photos and videos, its design resembles a standard sea container, which is actually a mobile launcher. This is reported by The War Zone.
According to the publication's analysis, this complex uses rocket ammunition packages similar to those used in the M270 MLRS and HIMARS systems. This means that the installation is capable of launching a wide range of missiles, including the long-range ATACMS and Precision Strike Missile (PrSM).
It is known that during the visit of US President Donald Trump to the Fort Bragg base, tests of this system took place. It is capable of placing up to two transport-launch packages, which makes it similar in firepower to the HIMARS installation.
This system is not entirely new, as Military Times published a short video of this installation in 2024, but no additional context was added about it.
The US military is also reportedly studying new variants of container systems that would have smaller missiles but a larger number of them. Such complexes would have a higher rate of fire, but at a shorter range.
Experts say that such platforms would be easily transported and could be installed in various locations, including on trucks, railcars, and ships. Because of their low visibility, they would be able to create a network of hidden launch sites that could cover large areas.
