The Swedish Combat Boat 90 combat boats transferred to Ukraine have significantly expanded the operational capabilities of the special forces of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's GUR. This was stated by the commander of the GUR special forces unit with the call sign Swede in a comment for Svenska Dagbladet.
He noted that the boats are actively used for reconnaissance, logistical support, landing personnel, as well as operational support in strategically important areas, in particular on Zmiiniy Island.
"They allow us to perform missions that we could not perform before," said the commander of the GUR special forces unit about the Swedish CB90 boats.
The design of the boat provides it with excellent seaworthiness, high speed and safety even in extreme conditions. The vessel can carry up to 21 fully equipped soldiers and up to 4.5 tons of cargo.
"The manufacturer of the boats, the Swedish company Saab, has developed new combat modules for the SV90 with remote control and enhanced protection," the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said in a statement.
As part of the next support package, the Swedish government has provided for the retrofitting of Ukrainian boats with such systems, as well as the integration of radars on them for monitoring sea and airspace.
